Chocolate & Pear Cake

  • 150g sugar

  • 150g butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 100g self raising flour

  • 50ml milk

  • 1 pear

  • 50g chocolate chips

  1. Wash your hands and put on an apron. Ask a grown up to put the oven on 180c.

  2. Put the butter in a mixing bowl and chop up into cubes, now add the sugar and cream together until light and fluffy

  3. Mix in the eggs and then add the cocoa powder

  4. Add the flour, the mixture will be quite thick so add some milk to loosen it and mix well until everything is combined

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and then grease your cake tin.

  6. Pour the chocolate mixture into your tin and smooth over.

  7. Peel and core your pear and chop up into cubes and spread over the top of the cake mixture, carefully pushing down slightly so the pears are covered in the chocolate mixture.

  8. Ask your grown up to put the cake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until firm to the touch.

Carefully take the cake out of the tin and leave to cool, you can now decorate your cake!
