Walnuts are rich in antioxidants
Walnuts are an excellent source of anti-inflammatory omega 3 fatty acids
Walnuts an help reduce cholesterol
They also have anti-inflammatory properties
Walnuts can also boost your mood!
So with this there is no reason not to eat them, why not try this yummy Walnut & Stilton Soda Bread recipe.
Ingredients:
100g Wholemeal Self Raising Flour
100g Plain Flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp of bicarbonate of soda
25g porridge oats
150ml natural yoghurt
100ml water
50g chopped walnuts
50g stilton cheese
In a large mixing bowl add the flours, salt, bicarbonate of soda & oats and mix together
Make a well and add the walnuts and crumble in the stilton
Now add the yoghurt and mix together, gradually adding the water to form a dough
Once you have a sticky dough add some extra flour to make it into a ball and turn out onto a floured surface
Knead the dough for 5 minutes, adding extra flour if the dough becomes sticky
Pat out the dough into a round, then using a knife make 3 slashes on the top
Transfer on to a baking tray and put in the oven for about 30-40 minutes until golden
TIP; to check the bread has cooked through, the bottom of the bread will sound hollow when you tap it
